Arrival in Casablanca and touring Rabat

Our driver Anas met us at the arrivals, we got in his car, Toyota Land Cruiser, and we drove along the coast to Rabat, the capital. We met our guide Hashem, fast talking guy and very knowledgeable.

We toured near the Royal Palace, but couldn't go in.
We had to stand across from the entrance due to security.  Then on to the mosque,

On to the mausoleum where we saw some beautiful marble work and a stunning domed ceiling.

Across from the mausoleum there is a beautiful new Opera House designed by a Vietnamese woman who sadly died before completion.  It is shaped to look like a copperhead snake. Amazing.
We went on to Kasbah Challa, now a designated UNESCO site.  Lots of cats wandering around.  Lovely walking through to the big courtyard overlooking the river.

We walked to our hotel, Riad Zyo,  in the medina, and then went out for a quick bite and a short walk down Mohammed V, the main street of the medina.
A very long day, but so many experiences.
Took a picture of the corner to turn at to find our way back!

Good night!
